Hiling's shame is something AM would crave. In many ways she was blunt and open about herself, but AM knew how to push her to that brink.

"You're not?" He sits up on the bed, running his hands over the sides of his face to scoop up loose strands of sweaty hair. "I'm surprised. You always seemed eager to broadcast our exploits."

That's one of the main reasons he relented in getting rid of her, after all.

She curls up turning away from him, her legs pressed together tightly. It's such a confusing feeling, not one that she ever feels very often. She wants to get away and forget about this. It was a bad idea. Even being aware of that she knows how much she physically needs him and that scares her.

"It was stupid of me."

"What exactly was stupid of you?" He leans in as she curls up, brushing away a stray green curl from her face to get a better look at her.

He knows the answer. He knows all. But he wants to hear her admit it.

"Thinking... I was better off without you."

It's obvious she isn't and she should have known all along. That need is embedded in her. She was made to be this way. But he doesn't need her in the same way. She's just a part that can be replaced.

And that's exactly as it should be. AM was angry when she left, and yet in the end he is better off for it. But to have her need him like this feeds into his desire for control.

"Yes... You were pretty stupid indeed." But his voice is soft, almost tender, as if he's whispering words of compassion.

"But what's done is done."

He sits up on the bed, grabbing his pants and fitting his legs through them.
