So, let me make sure I am assessing this properly:

You are under the assumption that Kain keeps getting himself hurt, and he won't speak about it? Perhaps there's a reason he won't speak about it.

It is a complicated mess. But you should be spared any pain if you stop trying to pry answers out of him.

Obviously there's a reason. That's what I'm trying to figure out in the first place. I just thought perhaps whatever reason you have for telling me to be wary of him might coincide with something about what's happening to him. It's a shot in the dark, granted, but...

Yes, he will hurt you if you push him further. He's like a little wind-up toy.

I don't know why Kain keeps getting hurt. I was merely saying that people often paint targets on themselves one way or another. Kain clearly has, particularly because of the malevolence I know him capable of.

But then... that makes me wonder exactly what it is he did to earn such retribution. Especially if multiple people have been at the other end of it...

Is there truly no way I can get you to open up? I'm not sure what else to do at this point, and if I can't find any other answers, I may have no choice but to take that risk.

[Ugh, she's going to speak to Kain regardless. At some point he'll tell her what happened between them, so AM has to soften the blow first. He has to continue to paint Kain as the bad guy (which, to AM, he is).]

All right, if you must know, I'll speak of one of the major issues I have with him.

A while ago, around the time he first arrived here, many of us were stuck in a cavern with mirrors. These mirrors somehow broadcast our memories to anyone in the vicinity, and I had the unfortunate privilege of viewing Kain's.

He was a menace in his world. He gleefully razed a village and killed every last inhabitant. His jealousy over his own best friend led to several attempted murders on his part. His lust toward said best friend's lover led to him holding the poor woman as his prisoner.

I make none of this up. I do not know specifically what he has done to this land's inhabitants other than myself, but I do know what he has done in his homeland. If he is capable of such atrocities, then the attacks against him may not have been without merit.

[It does line up. This information is too specific not to be true, and it lines up with some things Kain himself has said. The parts about atonement, and even the part about having had bad luck in dating...

Unless the mirrors lied, Kain has indeed done all of that. He did not deny it either. How could he, when I was right there viewing all he had done?

I'm assuming you still want to confront him on this. I can't stop you, but be aware he could deny or downplay all of it. Or worse yet, he could turn his aggressive behavior toward you.
